Curriculum & Subjects

Wellington Preparatory School and College is proud to offer a robust and enriching academic programme through the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) curriculum for our College Phase (High School, Grade 8 to Grade 12).

The IEB is a well-respected independent assessment body in South Africa and internationally, which bases its National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations on the national Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS), but provides a more challenging, skills-based, and critically-minded approach to education.

Our College (High School) is committed to providing a nurturing environment with small classes and an integrated use of technology, which are ideal for the demands of the IEB curriculum. Our goal is to develop independent thinkers who are prepared for tertiary education and beyond.

Key components of our IEB programme include:

Holistic Development: A balanced way of teaching that integrates academic, artistic, and physical education to encourage social and emotional development.

Critical Thinking: The IEB curriculum encourages pupils to develop complex problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

University Preparation: The IEB NSC is widely recognised by universities both locally and internationally.

IEB Subject Offerings (Grade 10 – 12)

The IEB National Senior Certificate (NSC) requires pupils to study a minimum of seven subjects. The curriculum structure typically includes four compulsory subjects and three elective subjects.
