PRIMARY SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY

Wellington Preparatory School & College embraces modern technology through a hybrid Google and Apple system that supports the devices learners use daily. Strict safety controls are in place to ensure that learners can safely develop the digital skills they will need in the future.

Devices remain at school and may not be taken home. We also make use of physical textbooks (not e-books), and workbooks are sent home in the afternoons for homework. Lesson plans and resources are uploaded to Google Classroom for learners and parents to access from home when needed.

Because we believe that technology is a powerful tool for learning and content creation, iPads and Chromebooks are integrated into all Grade 4–7 subjects as required and are packed away when not in use. These devices play an especially important role in our Coding and Robotics curriculum.

  • Grade 1 – 3: Use iPads for about 1 hour per week for digital creation and an introduction to coding.
  • Grade 4 – 5: Use iPads in class two days each week.
  • Grade 6: Each learner has their own iPad for daily use.
  • Grade 7: Each learner has their own Chromebook for daily use.
